Read our comprehensive review to see what we found out about Meladerm.

Why Meladerm Skin Lightening Cream?

Meladerm is the result of extensive research and studies made by the Civant Skin Care team who endeavoured to produce a natural lightening cream that will also care for your skin. This specially formulated cream will lighten your skin as well treat other skin problems like blemishes, acne, hyperpigmentation and other irritating problems. It can be applied to the whole body and many users have reported using Meladerm to treat sun spots, birthmarks and old scars.

Meladerm is manufactured using ingredients from nature that have been clinically proven to really work for lightening the skin.

Meladerm IndiaWhile other products were found to have similar ingredients, Meladerm cream contains more active ingredients (10+) than any other lightener.

It is also uniquely formulated in a way that preserves and delivers the highest concentration of these vital ingredients to the skin with the minimum amount of  irritation. The active ingredients are combined with special base ingredients that moisturise and protect the skin,   increasing it’s reputation as a top rated lightener.

Traditionally hydroquinone and even mercury were used in the manufacture of skin lightening treatments. Hydroquinone was previously thought to be the most effective treatment for hyperpigmentation, including melasma and sun damage, but research has shown there may be serious side effects associated with long term use of this synthetic compound and it is since been banned in some countries.

Mercury, as you know, has no value to the human body. Considered a poison it can cause serious health problems when absorbed through the skin.

Meladerm lightening cream contains no hydroquinone, mercury, steroids or parabens. It is naturally friendly to the skin since many of its ingredients are derived from natural plant extracts such as bearberry, mulberry and liquorice. These natural ingredients wont clog your pores.

The Civant Skin Care company also uses an airless dispensing technology so the product does not get contaminated or exposed to light during packaging which is known to reduce the effectiveness of important ingredients like Kojic Acid.

HealthyHow Long Will Meladerm Take To Work?

Civant Skin Care claim you be able to see results within 2 to 3 weeks of using Meladerm cream with more complete results after 2 to 3 months of regular use. Results will depend on a number of factors including skin type and condition, the depth of your pigmentation and the amount of sun exposure you get. Individual results will vary and they do offer a 30-day money back guarantee if you are not satisfied with the product.

How Meladerm Works on Your Skin

The color of your skin depends on the level of melanosomes in your body. Melanosomes are organelles that contain the light-absorbing pigment called melanin. The more melanosomes that are formed, the more color it will give your skin.

Meladerm skin lightening cream targets these melanosomes by suppressing their formation. By doing this you are also decreasing the amount of melanin in your skin, giving you the opportunity to gain a lighter complexion that is free from dark spots. Due to this effect the cream can not only lighten your skin, it can also treat sun damage, acne marks, and other major skin problems.

Using cream on dark eye circlesWhat Causes Dark Eye Circles?

If you are looking to get rid of dark eye circles, you first need to consider the cause. Many factors can cause the appearance of dark circles under the eyes. Factors can include:

  • fatigue
  • allergies
  • heredity
  • sun exposure
  • general skin ageing
As you age, a loss of collagen under the eyes can make the reddish-blue blood vessels look more obvious. However, if you have prominent dark circles that never seem to fade they may be due to hyperpigmentation. This is particularly common among people with darker skin tones.

Hyperpigmentation is either caused by an increase in the production of melanin (the brown pigmentation in the skin) or an increase in the number of pigment cells called melanocytes.

When there is an increase of melanin production around the eyes the condition is called periorbital hyperpigmentation. If the dark eye circles are a brown colour this may be due to superficial (or surface layer) melanin. If the dark circles are a darker brown/blue colour this may be due to dermal (deep layer) melanin.

Treatment for Dark Eye Circles

There are a number of treatment options available for this type of hyperpigmentation. The most convenient way to treat dark eye circles at home is to apply a topical lightening cream containing ingredients like hydroquinone or kojic acid. The lightening ingredients used in these creams are similar to those used for melasma on the face which is also caused by hyperpigmentation.

Lightening creams are designed to reduce melanin production and lighten the appearance of the dark pigmentation or shadows around the eyes. Additional ingredients may be added to improve blood circulation under the eyes.

Other options for treating dark eye circles include chemical peels, laser surgery or filler injections. Safety issues must be taken into account before undertaking these treatments to ensure the therapy chosen does not make the pigmentation worse. It is wise to consult a dermatologist before embarking on any of these treatments.

Hydroquinine Free Treatments for Dark Eye Circles

If you would prefer not to use chemicals like hydroquinine you could try an all natural eye serum like CivantCivant skin care eye complex Skin Care’s Eye Complex Cream. This eye serum is made by the same company who produce Meladerm Skin Whitening Cream, however the ingredients used are specifically designed to reduce the appearance of dark eye circles, wrinkles and puffiness around the eyes.

The Eye Complex serum contains rice bran protein and soybean protein which improve blood circulation while strengthening collagen and elastin in the skin. These ingredients help to reduce the effect of the sun’s UV rays and while keeping the skin firm. They help to reduce dryness and enhance water retention.

Rice bran protein is a plant derived protein that has powerful antioxidants like Lipoic acid and natural moisturisers. It regulates melanin production in the skin and has been used for many years in Japan and other far eastern countries to achieve a brighter skin tone. It is non-allergenic and has been shown to significantly reduce the appearance of dark eye circles and puffiness around the eyes with regular use.

In a clinical study using older subjects with dry skin and visible signs of ageing, the results showed a 35% reduction in dark circles, a 32% reduction in puffiness and a 42% improvement in skin texture after the 8 weeks of treatment.

Civant’s Eye Complex formula also contains a number of vitamins including Vitamin C, Vitamin D and Vitamin K which can help to fade the appearance of dark eye circles. Their products contain no steroids, mercury, hydroquinine or parabens. They are generally suitable for all skin types.

Remember that it is important to use a high SPF sun block if you are undergoing any treatment for hyperpigmentation. The areas of skin you are treating, including the eyes, will be more sensitive to the sun’s UV rays.

Home Remedies for Dark Eye Circles

Raw potatoes or cucumber are commonly used to treat dark eye circles.

It’s best to chill the potatoes first and then grate them into a bowl. You can use a cotton bud to apply the potato juice to the affected area and leave for 10-15 minutes before rinsing it off. Alternatively you can gather the grated potato into a cloth and apply this under the eyes for the same amount of time. You need to repeat this regularly to see results.

You can combine the effects of cucumber and potato by using one large potato and half a cucumber. Peel both vegetables and cut them into pieces. Use a blender to mix them together and strain the juice off. Keep the juice in the fridge until you’re ready to use it. Soak cotton balls in the juice and apply the mixture to your eyes. Rinse off with water after 10-15 minutes. Again you will need to repeat this regularly until results are visible.

If you can’t be bothered grating or blending these vegetables you can just cut thick slices of potato or cucumber and chill them in the fridge. Place the slices on the affected area and leave for 10-15 minutes before rinsing with cold water.

Potatoes and cucumber contain natural bleaching agents so why not give them a try? Remember that eating a healthy diet , getting plenty of sleep and exercising regularly will also help reduce the appearance of dark eye circles.
